In the late '60s, Ian "Fozzie" Foster was involved with a few local bands playing R&B and soul and blues music, enjoying his time with " St James Infirmary".
After being involved with various projects with local musicians--gigging and working on sessions--Ian was approached by Reading's folk rocker Mike Cooper.
The result was "Mike Cooper and the Machine Gun Company" with Mike, Les Calvert, and Bill Bozeman.
The following three years, the band toured UK
universities, and did a spot at the Cambridge Folk Festival besides making two appearances on BBC Radio One's Live In Concert programme hosted by Pete Drummond.
They also worked on an album with Ian A Anderson called " A Singer Sleeps On While...."
After Mike had returned to a solo career, what followed was was the raising of "Heartbreaker", after Fozzie met up with Steve Annetts. A long and enjoyable partnership formed and saw the band touring UK rock venues in their own right and also in support of "The Ian Gillan Band", Paul Kossoff's "Back Street Crawler", and Big Jim Sullivan's "Tiger", amongst several others.
These were the fruits of John Glover, David Paramour, and Ian Gillan all who gave the band great support and guidance. We'll never forget their help and kindness.
After a stint in Germany, and a heavy workload which included monthly headliners at London's Marquee Club, Heartbreaker finally ran its' course with the members pursuing other interests.
After some time in the wilderness, a call came from Steve and "Dangerous Age" emerged.
The rest, my friends, is history--as they say--and we're still standing after all these years. Funny old life, innit??
